Alberta's Gang Reduction Training Symposium
Through the Safe Communities Initiative, Alberta has been addressing crime reduction through a balanced approach based on prevention, intervention and enforcement, and with a firm commitment to partnerships. Rather than simply getting tough on crime, Alberta is getting smart on crime.
That is why the Alberta Gang Reduction Training Symposium, held in Edmonton from January 30 to February 1, 2012 provided participants with the opportunity to hear about community led solutions to the challenges of gangs and learn from the experiences of gang prevention programs from across Canada.
The collaborative approach at the symposium addressed gang crime at the grass-roots level, where we can have a real and lasting impact on both preventing gang crime, and protecting our young people from the lures of a gang lifestyle.
