Staff Break Areas

Include the staff lounge, workout room, quiet room, cafeteria and kitchen. These spaces are considerably larger than what is provided at the current ERC and other than the quiet room, each room will have a large screen television. In addition to these facilities in the central administration building, each living unit also has an attached office/break area with a kitchenette for staff.

Staff Outdoor Areas

Include the staff courtyard and deck. These spaces are visible from the staff services areas through the large windows that will let in natural light. The deck and courtyard will be available for staff to enjoy fresh air without leaving the building. They will be outfitted with patio furniture and barbeques.

Staff Educational/Training Areas

Include the training room, muster room, computer room and a mock living cell. The muster room is large with auditorium style seating. It will be used for daily pre-shift meeting as well as for training programs. The mock living cell will be outfitted with video recorders for ongoing tactical practice exercises and staff training.

Lockers Rooms

The new ERC will have three separate locker rooms for correctional staff. These include the male locker room, female locker room, and tactical team locker room. The tactical team locker room includes video monitors for viewing of centre incidents requiring a tactical team response.
